After a series of leaks, the Moto M is officially launched by Lenovo in China. The parent company Lenovo is seemingly having its hand over this as the device now sports quite a different design from the Motorola range, and the first difference to note here is with the fingerprint scanner that now is on the back of the Moto M.
The Moto M from Motorola comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display with the 2.5D curved arc glass. Under the hood is the MediaTek Helio P15 chipset that is coupled with 4GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. The Dual SIM device supports a MicroSD card for storage expansion, and the connectivity options include 4G with VoLTE support.
It is a metallic body that curves down from the center of the back and the thinnest point on the side is 4.3mm in thickness. On the camera front, there are two good ones – a 16-megapixel rear camera with phase detection autofocus, dual-tone flash, and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera having a 85-degree wide angle lens.
The Moto M also has a good audio output support with the inclusion of twin stereo speakers that aim to provide a 360-degree surround sound. To add to this, Lenovo has given the Dolby Atmos support for the enhanced sound output. Since the fingerprint scanner is moved to the back, the front where the home button was located, now houses a Moto branding.
The Moto M also has the P2i nano-coating to keep itself safe from water splashes, but that doesn’t mean it is water resistant. The phone has a 3050 mAh battery and there is a USB Type-C port supporting Turbo charging.
The Moto M is priced at 1999 Yuan (about Rs. 20000) and it is launched only in China for now, and the gold color variant will be available from November 11th. The company hasn’t mentioned whether the device will be available in the other markets including India.
