Lenovo has announced the launch of the new Moto smartphone in the mid-range lineup, as the Moto M gets official with a 5.5-inch display and a MediaTek processor. Coming in two variants, the Moto M is going to be available from 11:59 p.m. on 14th December, and the variants differ only with the storage and RAM capacity.
The Moto M from Lenovo is said to be the first Moto phone with an all-metal design and it has a 5.5-inch IPS display with the Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) and a 2.5D curved arc glass on the front. Internally, the phone is powered by the 2.2GHz quad-core MediaTek Helio P15 processor. The storage and RAM variants have 32GB internal storage with 3GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage with 4GB of RAM. For the storage expansion, the users are not option-less as one can slip in a MicroSD card in the secondary SIM slot, i.e. a hybrid card slot. Interesting to note that the 64GB storage variant is launched only in the Indian market.
There is a 16-megapixel camera on the back of the phone, assisted by the phase-detection autofocus, Dual CCT Flash, ZSL, Digital Zoom, Touch Focus, Face Detection, Panorama, and Auto-HDR. For the selfies and video calls, the Moto M has an 8-megapixel camera with the beautification mode included in the software. The phone runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS with the slight touches made to the stock ROM, and knowing how well the Moto devices receive major software updates, you can soon expect the Android Nougat update to it.
The hub of connectivity included in the Moto M has Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, 4G VoLTE (with support for Indian LTE bands), USB Type-C (USB 3.1), NFC, and a 3.5mm audio jack. A 3050 mAh battery powers the phone and the battery has support for fast charging with the 10W rapid charger. While the Moto M does not have any IP certification for weather resistance, the body has a water-repellent nano coating that can resist spills.
Lenovo has been focusing much on the audio output and thus, you see the Dolby Atmos support in the Moto M. Also, for the security, a fingerprint sensor is offered on the back of the device unlike how it was on the Moto G4 Plus.
