Adding one more device in the phablet range, Micromax has launched the Canvas Mega 2 with a 6-inch qHD display and other basic specifications, while pricing it at Rs. 7999. The successor to the Canvas Mega comes with an increased screen to body ratio and thinner bezels than before, and Micromax aims to get a better share in the phablet range where it already is selling even the Doodle series devices.
The Micromax Canvas Mega 2 comes with a 6-inch qHD display with 960 x 540 pixels resolution, and there is a 1.3GHz quad-core processor along with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. A MicroSD card slot helps expand the storage by a further 32GB capacity.
The phone runs Android 5.0 Lollipop and Micromax doesn’t use any custom ROM over the stock UI. On the camera aspect, there is an inclusion of an 8-megapixel rear autofocus camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The Canvas Mega 2 has a 3000 mAh battery. The phone also supports HD video playback and there is 4G LTE connectivity available as well.
Commenting on the launch Mr. Shubhajit Sen, Chief Marketing Officer, Micromax Informatics said
“With the proliferation of 3G and 4G networks, the mobile video traffic is expected to grow at a CAGR of 88% between 2014 and 2019. Mobile gaming is another big area of growth with user base likely to reach 320 million by 2020 (source: statista) from the current 180 million. This has led to the phablet category’s phenomenal growth of 190% in 2015 over previous years. We believe, there will be further rise of mobile internet and persistent increase in demand for larger screens and video consumption. Micromax spotted these trends early on with its super successful Doodle series and now furthering it with Mega series by offering consumers various large screen smartphones options to provide an immersive internet and entertainment experience.”
The Canvas Mega 2 is priced at Rs. 7999 and it will be available both, online and offline.
