Xiaomi has finally launched their new smartphone, Mi 6X, today in an event in China. The phone has a dual camera setup on the back and comes with a 18:9 display on the front.
The Mi 6X sports a 5.99″ FullHD+ LTPS IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080x2160pixels. The 18:9 display is covered under Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 660 chipset and Adreno 512 GPU. It comes in three variants – 4 GB RAM/ 64 GB storage, 6 GB RAM/ 64 GB storage & 6 GB RAM/ 128 GB storage. The phone also has option for storage expansion for up to 256 GB through a microSD card. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Xiaomi’s custom UI, MIUI 9.5 on top.
The Mi6X has dual camera setup on the back with a 12MP main shooter and a 20 MP secondary shooter. The 12 MP camera has a Sony IMX486 sensor with a F/1.75 lens on top and pixel size of 1.25 um. The 20 MP unit has a Sony IMX376 sensor, with F/1.75 aperture. The selfie shooter on the Mi6X is the same 20 MP unit from the back with the same lens on the front.
Mi 6X has a rear mounted fingerprint scanner as well as face unlock support using the front-facing camera. The phone packs in a 3010 mAh battery, which supports Quick Charge 3.0, through the Type-C port at the bottom. Apart from the fingerprint scanner, the phone also has accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity and compass.
The Mi 6X will mostly be launched in India as the Mi A2 with stock android, sooner or later.
Pricing and Availability
The Mi 6X comes in Cherry Pink, Flame Red, Sand Gold, Glacier Blue, Black colors and prices start from CNY1,599 (USD 250/ INR 16,893) for the 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage variant and go up to CNY 1999 (USD 316.18/ INR 21,119) for the 6 RAM and 128 GB storage variant. The phone is available only in China, as of now.
