The LYF brand of smartphones from Reliance has added a new mid-range device, the LYF Earth 2, which comes with a fingerprint scanner and a smart security feature, the Retina Scan. The phone is priced at Rs. 20999 and it does have a lot, alongside the offer of 3 months Jio 4G unlimited data browsing if you are purchasing the device.
The LYF Earth 2 has a 5-inch Full HD display with the 2.5D glass and it is the IPS LCD display. On the internal aspect, the phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor (Octa-core 1.5GHz) along with Adreno 405 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The storage included in the phone internally is 32GB and there is a MicroSD card slot that offers storage expansion by about 64GB.
The camera combination on the device also seems good, with a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 13-megapixel front-facing camera having phase-detection autofocus. Both the cameras have a flashlight support, and while the rear camera can capture 1080p videos, the front one can take 720p videos. Some camera features include Touch Focus, Auto Focus, Face Detection, Manual HDR, Panorama, Voice control Shutter, Gesture Capture, Smile Capture, Touch Up Mode.
The front home button has a fingerprint sensor as well for unlocking the device. The retina scan takes advantage of the front-facing camera to recognize and unlock the screen. The phone runs Android Lollipop 5.1.1 and there are smart gesture features like Flip to mute, Double tap to wakeup, Black screen gesture, Auto call, Auto answer, Cover phone screen, Shake it, Pocket mode, Air gesture, Activate camera, Activate mirror.
For the battery, there is a 2500 mAh power that is said to offer about 14 hours of talk time on 4G and standby time of up to 480 hours. This is a Dual SIM (4G+2G) phone and the 4G bands supported are LTE-FDD BAND3(1800)/BAND5(850), and LTE-TDD BAND40(2300).
