LG G6 is surely one of the most anticipated flagships that is going to launch this year to compete with the likes of Samsung Galaxy S8 Duo and the new iPhone. Although we know most of the details about both the LG and Samsung flagships, there is still scope for some unexpected surprises when they go official; and we just can’t wait for them.
By now we all know that the new LG G6 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC skipping the much hyped Snapdragon 835 behind, a new report that popped up today re-confirms the same. This move comes from the fact that Samsung has control over the mass production of the Snapdragon 835 chipset and will exclusively the SoC for its Galaxy S8 flagship. This move should bring in some unexpected demand for the Galaxy flagship given the fact that it powers the latest and greatest of Qualcomm. If LG or any other manufacturer wishes to use the Snapdragon 835 SoC, they simply have to hold on for a couple of months, which might decrease the craze and demand by then.
If rumors and leaks are any clues, the Galaxy S8 launch is going to be huge as the company is not backing down regarding quality and features, delaying the launch of G6 just for chipset takes away the slight edge which LG had with an early launch. So LG isn’t backing down either regarding G6. Having a better chipset is as important as having a fast and feature rich phone which the Snapdragon 821 is capable of at the moment, so LG’s decision of going with 821 is understandable.
The LG G6 is said to ditch the failed modular design which was seen on G5 and bring in metal unibody design-meaning a non-removable battery. A Bezel-less display called Full Vision, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, water-resistance and the G6 will come with a quad DAC for those audiophiles. So, having an older chipset won’t make the LG G6 less interesting nor kills the excitement for its launch, well, it didn’t change a thing for us.
