LeEco has finally removed the wraps off its latest flagship smartphone. The brand new Le Pro 3 is now official with a massive 6 GB of RAM along with the powerful Snapdragon 821 chipset. This is the second smartphone after the Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe to sport the newest processor. As of now, the LeEco Le Pro 3 will be available only in China from September 28, and there is no info about any global launch.
Similar to the new Apple iPhone 7, the Le Pro 3 also does not sport a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Truly speaking, LeEco had removed the dedicated audio port from its smartphones way before Apple did. For sound output, the Le Pro 3 will make use of the USB Type-C port. The Chinese manufacturer has used the advanced CDLA (Continual Digital Lossless Audio) technique to upgrade from the analog 3.5 mm headphone port to a digital audio output.
The LeEco Le Pro 3 features a 5.5-inch Full HD 1080p screen. This is a 2.5D display panel. Coming to performance, the brand new handset is powered by the latest Snapdragon 821 SoC. The 64-bit quad-core processor sports the highest clock speed of 2.35 GHz. An overclocked Adreno 530 GPU renders the graphics. This is complemented by 4 GB or 6 GB of LPDDR4 RAM along with 32 GB or 64 GB of UFS 2.0 internal storage. Unfortunately, so far, there is neither an 8 GB RAM or higher storage variant, nor there is any expandable memory slot.
Speaking about the externals, the latest smartphone sports a premium looking brushed metallic finish. The Le Pro 3 measures 7.5 mm in thickness which makes it the slimmest among all of the LeEco smartphones launched till now. The brand new handset features a standard camera arrangement with a 16 MP rear camera with PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus). There is a decent 8 MP wide-angle selfie unit at the front of the mobile.
The high-end device is fuelled by a suitable 4070mAh battery which is more than enough for a day’s usage. The cell supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0. There is a stereo speaker arrangement at the bottom of the smartphone on each side of the USB Type-C port. The Le Pro 3 runs the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with LeEco’s custom eUI 5.8 layered above it.
The pricing is the most interesting aspect of the brand new smartphone. The 4 GB / 32 GB version of the LeEco Le Pro 3 will retail for as low as 1799 Yuan (Rs. 18,000 / $269 approx.) while the top end 6 GB / 64 GB model will cost 1999 Yuan (Rs. 20,000 / $299 approx.). This places it face to face with the Xiaomi Mi 5 which also features a similar price tag but sports the older Snapdragon 820 and as well as lesser RAM.
