Every smartphone these days carries its USPs over the other devices in its price range. LeEco has been doing quite well in the low mid-range segment with its first product in India, the Le 1s. Recently, there was a refresh to that model as the company introduced Le 1s Eco with the content integration and LeEco membership offers.
The newly launched Le 2 from LeEco speaks for more. Of course, there is a lot offered for the price and even though the phone has the likes of ZUK Z1, Moto G4 Plus, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, and YU Yunicorn standing strong against it, here’s what keeps the Le 2 ahead of them, in a few important aspects. Let’s see what are these.
Good build, design, and looks
Not that every other phone in this price range looks bad, but the Le 2 is a well designed and a well-built phone with a metal body, which was already expected as LeEco has been putting a good focus on the design, clearly evident from the Le 1s too. It is a bold design, and the phone is very comfortable to hold.
It has the dual-side chamfered edges and the curved corners, so the device doesn’t poke into your palm even when using it for a long time.
The camera combination
It is a super good combination of a 16-megapixel rear camera with the F/2.0 large aperture, phase detection autofocus, and a back-illuminated CMOS sensor supported by a Dual-LED flash with the color temperature adjustment. The rear camera can capture 4K videos.
On the front is an 8-megapixel camera with a 1.4μm pixel size and a F/2.2 aperture and a 76.5-degree lens for wider selfies.
An octa-core processor, high clock speed
Well, some might argue that having such clock speeds can lead to heating up of the device, or there was no need for so many cores in a chipset. But when you look at the way things are moving ahead, chipsets are getting better in every way and companies adapt with them.
Check out the LeEco Le 2 Specifications.
It is the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, which does a good job with the performance with the light UI of LeEco Le 2, and there is 3GB of RAM helping in multitasking.
Good connectivity options
Right from the 4G LTE support to the Dual-band Wi-Fi, the LeEco Le 2 has it all. Both the SIM slots are 4G compatible on the device, and the Wi-Fi standard here is 2.4G / 5G dual WLAN 802.11a / b / g / n / ac, while the phone has Bluetooth 4.2 technology support.
For the USB connectivity, you’d see the Type-C supporting quick charging, and the same Type-C port is now an audio jack as well, which we discuss in the next point.
CDLA standard for audio output
This might again be hard for a few to adjust with the same port that charges the phone, and then delivers the audio through headphones, but that is what makes the audio better, according to LeEco.
LeEco Le 2 has a new standard called Continual Digital Lossless Audio (CDLA) that gives a lossless audio when using the USB Type-C port and the audio headset that has the specialized chip to support it. Check out more details about it here: CDLA technology.
IR Blaster
Personally, even though I would be okay with a phone not having an Infrared remote control blaster, having it will have a higher chance of me selecting that phone because I’ve been using smartphones having the IR blaster, and they work well as remote controls for TVs, and other smart electronics.
It is easy to set them up and then to use too is quite easy. The remote setup feature on LeEco’s EUI platform is easy as well.
A fingerprint scanner that works well
There are smartphones in the budget range that have a perfectly working fingerprint scanner, and there are some flagships whose scanners struggle to always get the recognition right easily. LeEco’s Le 1s had a fingerprint scanner that just works well, with no much hassle.
The 360-degree recognition is present, and according to the company, now, there is a 0.15-second recognition. It is also a mirror-glass that you see on the top of the sensor, which adds to the good looks.
LeEco Membership
The LeEco membership is something that adds up to the user experience because everyone who want a good content display on their smartphone would be on a lookout for some good apps that offer audio and video content.
The membership is offered for free for one full year and it isn’t only about songs and music. Users will also be able to watch live TV and get a lot of cloud storage for content backup.
The Le 1s was surely one of the best choices for me in the price range, mainly due to the build and design. The Le 2 takes it ahead with a sleeker and better body, though keeping the metal coating almost the same.
