Huawei today has officially launched the P9 smartphone in India at an event in New Delhi. The company has been actively working on its sub-brand “Honor” in India and the recent phone Honor 5c was quite a good device for its price, but the company wanted to bring its flagship device into the Indian smartphone market where you would see different brands having their flagships in different price brackets. The Huawei P9 has a full-metal body but the main focus is on the camera set packed on the back of the device.
The phone comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD display with the 2.5D glass and the display has 96% color saturation and high contrast. Under the hood is the Kirin 955 64-bit, Octa-core processor clocking at 2.5GHz, and there are variants having 3GB / 4GB of RAM and storage of either 32GB or 64GB. The Huawei P9 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow based EMUI 4.1 (the Emotion UI from Huawei).
Let’s talk about the camera combination. The rear camera of the Huawei P9 is not one single sensor but a combination of two cameras – dual 12-megapixel F/2.2 shooters with the BSI CMOS sensors and Dual-tone flash. It is the Leica dual lenses that allow for more light to pass through, one sensor being an RGB one and other being a monochrome one.
According to the company, the details of the object are captured by the monochrome lens and the colors are taken by the RGB lens, both of which are combined to give the final image. The cameras come with 1.25µm pixel size and the pictures are processed by Huawei P9’s IMAGEsmart 5.0 technology. The cameras are also assisted by the laser autofocus system, which along with depth measurement and contrast constitutes the Hybrid Focus. The rear camera unit is capable of capturing 4K videos, while on the front is an 8-megapixel camera with F/2.4 aperture.
The device comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back and for the connectivity, there is support for 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac on 2.4GHz and 5GHz, Bluetooth 4.2, and USB Type-C connectivity.
While packing so much into the phone, Huawei has managed to keep everything under a slim 6.95mm chassis and the device weighs 144gm. The smartphone is officially launched for the price of Rs. 39999. The device has a two year warranty with the Pickup and Drop service for the customers.
