Huawei Honor 6X is a mid-range smartphone with high-end aspirations. It is one of the cheapest smartphones to boast a dual camera set-up. The newly launched handset is the successor of the Honor 5X. At a starting price of 999 Yuan (Rs. 9,899 / $148 approx.), the Honor 6X is a fully packed device with a Full HD display, octa-core chipset, fingerprint scanner and 4G VoLTE.
The Huawei Honor 6X sports a metallic unibody construction. At the back, there is a vertically arranged dual camera module along with a fingerprint sensor. Upfront lies a 5.5-inch Full HD 1080p IPS LCD panel. The latest smartphone is powered by the Huawei’s in-house HiSilicon Kirin 655 SoC. This is an octa-core processor with eight ARM Cortex A53 cores running at the highest frequency of 2.1 GHz. A dual core Mali T830 GPU handles the graphics performance. This is a mid-range hardware and will be just enough to run the Full HD contents.
Coming to storage, the Honor 6X offers three options. There are both 3 GB and 4 GB RAM variants. The 3 GB version comes with 32 GB internal memory while the 4 GB one is combined with either 32 GB or 64 GB of inbuilt storage. You can also add a micro SD card up to 256 GB via the hybrid SIM tray. The brand new smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow heavily customised with Huawei’s own Emotion UI 4.1.
The Honor 6X sports a dual camera arrangement at the back. The main shooter among the two is a 12 MP autofocus unit and a 2 MP snapper complements it. The primary camera also features PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) along with a LED flash. At the front, there is an 8 MP selfie shooter. Huawei’s latest smartphone can shoot Full HD 1080p videos at 30 fps. 4K support is not present.
The dual SIM phone supports 4G LTE along with VoLTE (Voice over LTE). Huawei Honor 6X sports Cat. 6 LTE with download and upload speeds of 300 Mb/s and 50 Mb/s respectively. A 3340mAh non-removable battery juices up the newly launched device. Other features include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, Infra-Red Emitter, compass, etc. The mobile comes with a micro USB 2.0 port for data transfer and charging.
Finally, coming to the pricing, the Huawei Honor 6X is a pretty affordable smartphone and offers excellent value for money proposition. The base variant having 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage costs 999 Yuan (Rs. 9,899 or 148 USD approx.). The 4 GB / 32 GB and 4 GB / 64 GB models have a price tag of 1299 Yuan (Rs. 12,849 or 192 USD approx.) and 1599 Yuan (Rs. 15,820 or 237 USD) respectively. The Honor 6X is currently up for pre-order in China and will be available for purchase starting on October 25. So far, there is no data regarding the global launch.
