Honor in India has expected its Honor 8 lineup with the launch of the Honor 8 Lite smartphone in the country. Retaining a design similar to the Honor 8, the smartphone has let go of the dual-lens rear camera setup to make it a far more affordable option, as the glass bodied device enters the sub-Rs. 20000 segment.
The Honor 8 Lite comes with a 5.2-inch 1080p display, the same combination that the Honor 8 had, and with the build as well, there are some similarities. The Honor 8 Lite comes with a glass back and a metal frame on the side. Internally, the smartphone is powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 655 processor. It is the octa-core chipset that was seen on the Honor 6X, and it has the Mali-T830 GPU that is added up by 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage.
The camera combination here is a 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The dual-lens camera combination that was seen on both the recent phones from Honor are not present here. It is the single camera with the LED flash and interestingly, the camera is embedded under the back glass. The phone also has a fingerprint sensor on the back and it has the special features that the EMUI offers apart from unlocking the phone.
The Honor 8 Lite is the first phone to come with Android Nougat OS out of the box, and it has the EMUI 5.0 interface based on the latest Android OS, with several new features and improvements to the current ones. There is a Theme store for UI customization, some pre-installed apps including Hotoday, Flipboard, Instagram, TripAdvisor, Messenger, Opera Max, FM Radio, Mirror, Compass, HiGame, Hi Honor, Phone Manager, and the Google Play apps.
There is a 3000 mAh battery included and the connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 4G with VoLTE support.
