Google today announced the two new Nexus smartphones, the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P. While the former is made by LG, the latter one comes from Huawei, and it is the first time Huawei has made a Nexus phone. If there was anything left to happen around these devices, it was the official announcement by the company, since there were multiple leaks talking about not just the specs and pictures, but the official pricing was also known ahead of the launch.
LG has made a Nexus device twice before this, with the Nexus 4 and 5, while Samsung made two devices before the Nexus 4. Huawei’s entry into the Nexus lineup is an attempt with a phablet device, having a 5.7-inch display with QHD resolution, after Motorola’s attempt not being so great with a 6-inch Nexus 6 last year.
Both the Nexus smartphones, i.e. the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P run on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets, and they are power packed with specs, though one would get inclined towards a Nexus series phone more for its seamless and smooth experience, than for the specifications packed.

Ok, let’s talk about the important details. A 5.7-inch QHD display, Snapdragon 810 v2.1 processor, and a 3450 mAh battery is what comes in the Nexus 6P, while there is a 5.2-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 808 processor, and a 2700 mAh battery in the Nexus 5x. The Nexus 6P has Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection and a full metal body.
Both the devices have a fingerprint sensor placed on the back, just towards the top-middle section, and that is something similar to where Motorola has its Moto dimple for placing the finger while talking on the phone.
Another similarity between both the devices, is the USB Type-C connectivity. The reversible port is seen only in a limited number of devices till date, and it won’t be easy for users to remember carrying a USB Type-C cable always, as it isn’t as common as the standard MicroUSB is.
The camera on the back is the same for both, but the Nexus 6P comes with a laser autofocus system. While the Nexus 5X can record slow-motion 120 fps videos, the Nexus 6P can capture at 240 fps, and both the cameras are capable of taking 4K resolution videos.
Nexus 5X and 6P available for preorder today in US, UK, Ireland, and Japan. These would be available at the Google Play Stores. The price for Nexus 5X starts at $379, and for Nexus 6P, the price is $499. These would be shipping later in October, and the phones are fully unlocked, meant to be working with all major carriers.
