The Gionee S6 Pro is a premium handset with mediocre internals. It features a full metal construction along with a beautiful design language. Upfront, there is a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD panel. This is a 2.5D curved display and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. The new smartphone is powered by Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with a modified UI. Gionee has added in several features like split screen mode and a pre-installed professional grade video editor.
Internally, the S6 Pro houses the MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755) chipset. The octa-core processor comes with eight Cortex A53 cores capable of going up to a clock speed of 1.8 GHz. This is combined with a dual core Mali T860 GPU. Coming to storage, the newly launched smartphone sports 4 GB of RAM along with 64 GB of internal memory. There is also a provision for micro SD card up to 128 GB through the hybrid SIM slot.
Speaking of cameras, the Gionee S6 Pro flaunts a 13 MP autofocus unit at the back and an 8 MP selfie shooter at the front. The primary camera sports PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus), a large f/2.0 aperture and a LED flash. Unfortunately, the video recording is restricted to Full HD 1080p at 30 fps.
The latest smartphone supports dual SIM and 4G along with VoLTE (Voice over LTE). General connectivity options like Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz only), GPS, Bluetooth and even an FM Radio are present in the Gionee S6 Pro. The new USB Type-C port is there with support for OTG (On The Go) storages. The latest handset also has a fingerprint sensor integrated into the home button.
A decent 3130mAh Lithium-ion battery fuels up the device. The Gionee S6 Pro is available at Rs. 23,999 in both online and offline stores starting from today. As of now, only the Rose Gold and the Gold color variants will be sold.
