Gionee has officially launched its new flagship, the Elife E8 into the Indian market. The company had announced the phone back in July 2015, and thus far couldn’t see its entry into the vast Indian market where the sales have been good in the local markets. With the launch of Elife E8, the company marks its foray into the e-commerce market.
The Gionee Elife E8 has a 6-inch Quad HD AMOLED display, marking a big upgrade from the 5.5-inch Full HD display on the Elife E7, and this might be something not fitting easily into every palm. Internally, there is a Mediatek Helio X10 processor along with 3GB of RAM. The same chipset was seen in a couple of flagships from other brands, including the HTC One M9+, Meizu MX5, and Sony Xperia M5 Dual. The internal storage in the device is 64GB, and the device supports a MicroSD card for storage expansion.
The Elife E8 comes with a 24-megapixel rear camera along with True-tone flash, and the camera is capable of recording 4K videos, and capture panorama shots having a resolution of 120-megapixels. There is phase detection autofocus and the camera is made of six element lens, and covered with a sapphire glass. On the front is a 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling.
The device carries a fingerprint sensor on the back, which helps in security, helping unlock the screen with its 360-degree recognition. It is said to be over 99% accurate and takes less than 0.5 seconds to identify and unlock the screen. Running the Android 5.1 Lollipop based Amigo 3.1 OS, the device has similar UI as in the other Gionee smartphones. The UI is specific for India this time, with features like Ami Locker, Mood Card, Ami Weather, Theme Park, AmiClone, 9 Languages and Mobile Security. There is a 3520 mAh battery packed into the device, and it supports fast charging.
With the launch of the Elife E8, Gionee also announces a new step in its e-commerce journey, by forming a partnership with the online retailer Snapdeal. The Elife E8 is priced at Rs. 34999, and it will be exclusively available on Snapdeal from October 12th.
