Essential, the upcoming smartphone brand from the Android king Andy Rubin is working on its first smartphone and the signs of that are already visible through one of the popular benchmark apps and its results page. It was earlier reported that the company that has a strength of 40 people is going to mark its entry with a top-tier device and the benchmark result supports it.
Named as the Essential FIH-PM1 in the Geekbench score page, the leaked smartphone is said to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, the latest chipset from Qualcomm that is set to power most of the flagships this year.
The test results also show that the smartphone will run Android 7.0 Nougat, which says that Andy Rubin and the team is not looking at anything new with regards to the OS and will be using Android itself, with minimal tweaks.
4GB of RAM is another inclusion that is seen on the Geekbench page and that is it, you at least know that there is a device in the works and things are not limited to rumors. We do not know about the approximate time for the launch of the phone, or any other spec with regards to the exterior of it. But with MWC 2015 in a month from now, we can see the new company throwing some light on it, and the announcement should be in the first half of the year itself.
With the internal hardware, it is clear that Essential is looking to target the likes of Samsung Galaxy S7, Apple iPhone 7 and the Google Pixel, and might launch devices with a hefty price tag while having no compromise on what is offered. Also, it was said in the earlier report that Essential won’t have only smartphones but also an ecosystem of devices.
Sounds great! Let’s wait and see what’s in the store for consumers.. 🙂
