Creo, a new smartphone brand in India has just announced its first smartphone, the Mark 1, with an intention to deliver something that matches the hardware and software potential.
Creo is an Indian brand, and you would expect it to just source everything including the design from one of the countries where things happen in full force. That’s how it has been happening with a few brands in India already. But, except for the manufacturing that is currently happening in China, everything else is from the company’s office in Bangalore.
While talking to us about the plans of the company, Sai Srinivas, the CEO of Creosense says that the focus is not on marketing it as an Indian product, but it is more about providing value to the users and showing the capability of what a hardware can do with a perfect software.
The Creo Mark 1 comes with a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. The phone is powered by a 1.95 GHz true octa-core processor (Mediatek Helio X10) and there is a 3100 mAh battery powering the device. The camera combination too looks top-notch, with a 21-megapixel rear and an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter. The storage is expandable by another 128GB with a MicroSD card slot.
The 21MP camera on the back of the device can record slow motion videos at 120 Fps, with the resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. There is also phase-detection autofocus, Dual-tone flash and for the standard videos, it is a 4K video recording possible. The front has a wide-angle 86-degree lens and the camera can capture 1080p videos.
What’s important here is its software. Creo is calling it the Fuel OS (built on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop), with the USP being a new software feature to be introduced every month. Fuel OS comes with an update system that is driven by features suggested by the community, though the company says to have planned a roadmap for the next few months.
- One of the features newly introduced in the Mark 1 is called “Sense” which allows the user to search for anything by just double tapping the home button.
- The second one is the proprietary dialer in the phone that will help record and receive voice messages if the user is unable to take the call. They’re calling it the “Echo”, which will act like the answering machine for the user.
- There’s a retriever app which emails new inserted SIM details, location, and number when it is stolen.
- Anti-theft: This is one of the very important features of the Mark 1, where the company claims that it works even when the data is erased from the phone. This feature is not internet dependent.
The other software features include Notification manager, Smart inbox for Messages, Lockscreen Gestures, Customizable capacitive buttons.
