Coolpad and LeEco have partnered up to launch their new smartphone called the CoolPad Cool 2, in China. The new entry-level smartphone is the successor of the Coolpad Cool 1 dual and comes with a new 18:9 display. The companies have earlier released the Coolpad 1 dual, which was their first smartphone after LeEco became the largest shareholder in Coolpad.
The Cool 2 features a 5.7-inch HD+ IPS LCD panel with a 1440x720p resolution. The 18:9 display is covered under a 2.5D curved display. The phone is powered by the MediaTek MT6750 chipset, paired with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The storage can further be expanded up to 128 GB via a microSD card. The phone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with Coolpad’s custom UI on top.
Like every other phone these days, the Cool 2 comes with 2 cameras on the back. The primary camera is a 13 MP shooter that is paired with 0.3 MP secondary camera for depth sensing and portrait shots, along with the LED flash. The phone has an 8 MP camera on the front, which supports face unlock feature as well. The phone can record videos up to a maximum resolution of 1080p.
As mentioned earlier, apart from the face unlock feature, the phone also comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for added security. The phone packs in a 3200 mAh battery. Sadly, the battery doesn’t support fast charge. As for the connectivity, the phone comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack, a micro USB port, Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and LTE support. The phone comes with IPX4 splash resistance, to protect the phone from accidental splashes.
Pricing and Availability
The phone will be available in Gold and Blue colors. Although there are no details about the pricing, yet. But it should be available in China, sooner than later. It is still unknown as of when the phone is going to arrive in India.
I have read that the chipset used in this devise is old and lacks in optimal performance, price will be a deciding factor here, thanks
