ASUS, the Taiwanese electronics brand has made its new smartphone official under the ZenFone Zoom series. Taking ahead what was a league of proper zooming in smartphone photography, the ZenFone Zoom 3 caters to not only photo enthusiasts but also to the ones who use smartphones for hours and don’t want to worry about the battery usage.
The ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display, and it is launched with three color options – Navy Black, Glacier Silver, and Rose Gold. The display has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and 500 nits brightness and Over 100% NTSC high color gamut. The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Octa-core processor clocking at 2.0 GHz and along with that is Adreno 506 GPU and 4GB of RAM. There are storage options available up to 128GB and the device has a MicroSD card slot for the storage expansion.
The Dual camera system
This is one of the most important parts of this smartphone, with the two cameras on the back, one of which does the standard capturing while the other one offers proper zooming. The primary camera has a 12-megapixel SONY IMX362 sensor with F/1.7 aperture and 4-axis optical image stabilization. There is a Dual-LED real tone flash support and this camera can take 4K videos.
The camera features the TriTech+ Auto Focus system with 0.03s instant focus with the combination of Laser auto-focus and subject tracking focus. The other 12 megapixel camera can zoom up to 12 times, though the optical zoom possible is 2.3 times. The camera has a focal length of 59mm. On the front is a 13-megapixel selfie camera with the IMX214 sensor having F/2.0 aperture.
The ZenFone 3 Zoom is a Dual SIM smartphone and there is support for 4G connectivity with the VoLTE technology as well. The sensors included in the device are Accelerator, E-Compass, Gyroscope, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, RGB sensor, IR sensor, and Fingerprint sensor.
The phone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and over it, the ZenUI 3.0 interface. Another highlight of the phone is its good 5000 mAh battery, which can also help charge any other phone around with the Reverse Charging technology. There is USB Type-C connectivity and for the audio, the phone comes with 5-magnet speakers with NXP Smart Amp for up to 4 times better performance.
At the CES 2017 event, ASUS also launched the ZenFone AR smartphone with Google Tango.
