The IFA 2016 event has not begun yet but as always, Archos, the French multinational company has launched a list of devices already. One of them focuses on two things – water resistance, and a long battery life. Named as the Archos 50 Saphir, the device comes with the IP68 certification that makes it water resistant.
The IP68 certification for the device means it can survive immersion in water with depth of up to one meter for 30 minutes. To add to it, Archos is said to have made the device stronger and it can withstand falls from one meter. It is a Dual SIM phone and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.
The Archos 50 Saphir comes with a 5-inch IPS display with the resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Under the hood is a MediaTek MT6737VWT quad-core processor clocking at 1.5GHz, and it gets a support by 2GB of RAM. While the phone has 16GB of internal storage. As for the camera combination, the device has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 1080p video recording, and on the front is a 5-megapixel camera.
As said above, Archos has worked on the battery and you can see a 5000 mAh battery packed into the device, which is non-removable and it is said to offer about two days of usage on a single charge. There are several connectivity options including LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, Wi-Fi Direct, USB OTG, 3.5mm audio jack, and FM radio.
It is the thickness of the Archos 50 Saphir that might be disturbing because the phone has a 13.9mm thickness. It is only the Black variant available and the price for that is set at 99 Euros (about Rs. 8000) but for now, we see it getting launched after the IFA 2016 event in Europe, and there is no word about the International availability.
