Alcatel has launched two new smartphones in the budget category, named the Alcatel One Touch Pop Up and Pop Star, both these devices are aimed at customization which is made possible with a variety of back covers available with the device.
The Pop Up sports a 5-inch HD display with 720p resolution, it is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 610 processor, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage space which is expandable using microSD card up to 32GB. The Pop Up sports a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture along with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera.
The Pop-Up does not come with lot of customization options like the other model Pop Star, a variety of back covers are available in different colors like Black, Riva Blue, Amber Orange, White and Strawberry Red. It comes with Dual SIM connectivity. The pricing and availability are not yet finalized.
The Pop Star can be said as the younger sibling in terms of specs to the Pop Up but it makes it up in customization which is the main aspect of the device. It comes with a 5-inch display with a resolution of 720p. The Pop Star is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6580 processor and an upgraded variant is available with 64-bit MediaTek MT6735P, which is supported by 1GB of RAM and comes with 8GB and 16GB (for the LTE variant) internal storage space which can be expanded using microSD card up to 32GB. The device sports an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera.
It comes with Dual-SIM option and runs on 2,000 mAh battery. you can get a lot of designs for the back cover from plastic to leather and the Denim back cover which was once teased by OnePlus One but never made it to the market.
The pricing and availability of the Pop Up and Pop Star are not confirmed, Alcatel has also launched a tablet device called Alcatel Xess with a huge 17.3-inch display at the IFA event 2015.
