Xiaomi has just unveiled a new gadget in a newer space of electronics, the Xiaomi Mi Drone. Drones are hot and the category is quickly growing, and with some leaders in the space having the drones at a high price, Xiaomi seems to have priced the Mi Drone quite right with the options to select a camera resolution while purchasing.
Most of the parts of this Mi Drone as serviceable, and that makes it a better choice than the others, and even the camera module can be detached and replaced with a different one. Xiaomi has partnered with Flymi to make these drones, and will be selling them under the Mi branding.
The Mi drone is said to have a 5100 mAh battery, which is replaceable as well and it is said to fly for about 27 minutes per session. The range for flying the drone is about 3km. The drone also comes with a handheld remote that helps control the Mi Drone, and there would be an option to mount a smartphone and watch the live feed from the camera in the drone.
For the details, Xiaomi’s website shows only this for now and the company is yet to put up the full spec list. As for the price, it is 2499 Yuan (about USD 380) for the model with a 1080p camera, and for the one with 4K video camera it costs 2999 Yuan (about USD 450).
The availability is different for both the models. While the 1080p camera model will be crowdsourced through the Mi Home App from May 26th. The 4K model drone will be put up on early testing through an open beta program at the end of July 2016. All these are only in China for now, and there are no details about the availability in other regions.
