Three months after the launch, Xiaomi has announced that their Mi Band 3 has crossed over 5 million unit sales, globally. The third iteration of the Mi band was launched back in May, alongside the Mi 8, in China. However, the Mi Band 3 went on sale on June 5, 2018. The company had earlier reported that over a million Mi Band 3’s were sold in just 17 days since the first sale.
Alongside the regular Mi Band 3, the company had also announced an NFC enabled Mi Band 3 as well which is supposed to go on sale starting from September 19, in China. The NFC enabled Mi Band 3 can be used to make contactless payments. Both the bands offered fitness tracking with water resistance up to 5 Atm of pressure.
The standard Mi Band 3 is priced at CNY 169 while the NFC variant goes for CNY 199, in China. Although, the Mi Band 3 might launch sooner than later in India, as it’s predecessor the Mi Band 2 has already been available for a couple of years now since it’s launch back in September of 2016. However, it isn’t known whether Xiaomi will bring the NFC enabled variant as well.
Xiaomi has also emerged as the leader in the Indian Wearable market with over 46% market share, according to the IDC India report for the Second quarter of 2018. Part of it has to do with the company’s recent price cut on the Mi Band 2, making the already affordable band, even more affordable.
Great success for xiaomi
