Xiaomi has finally announced their latest mid-range offering in the Redmi series, the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro, today, in China. The 6 Pro from Xiaomi, is the first Redmi phone to feature a notched display.
The Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro sports a 5.84-inch FHD+ IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 2280×1080 pixels. Thanks to the notch on the front, the phone now comes with a 19:9 aspect ratio Powering the handset is the Snapdragon 625 chipset with Adreno 506 handling the graphics. It comes in three RAM and storage options – 3 GB RAM/32 GB storage 4 GB RAM/ 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM 64 GB internal storage. Thankfully, the phone comes with a dedicated microSD card slot using which, the storage can be expanded up to 256 GB. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9 on top.
As for the cameras, the Redmi 6 Pro comes with a dual camera setup on the back. There’s a 12 MP primary camera and a secondary 5 MP camera, which captures the depth sensing information for portrait shots. To the front, the phone greets you with a 5 MP front-facing camera which offers HDR and AI portrait mode.
The 6 Pro packs in a massive 4000 mAh battery. As for the connectivity, the Dual SIM smartphone comes with 4G VoLTE 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS and GLONASS. The Redmi 6 Pro features a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and also comes with AI face unlock, for added security. The phone is 8.75 mm thick and weighs 178 gms.
Pricing and Availability of Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro
The Xiaomi Redmi 6 pro comes in Bali Blue, Cherry Blossom Powder, Flame Red, Sand Gold & Stone Black colors. The pricing of the phone starts at CNY 999 (USD 153/ INR 10,430) for the 3 GB RAM/ 32 GB storage, CNY 1,199 (USD 183/ INR 12,519) for the 4 GB RAM/ 32 GB storage and the 4 GB RAM/ 64 GB storage variant would cost you CNY 1,299 (USD 198/ INR 13,563).
The phone is up for pre-orders now in China and will go on sale starting June 26. There’s no word on the availability and pricing of this smartphone in other markets.
