Xiaomi is going to introduce another service to its users called Mi Protect Insurance service for its smartphones and tablets. There is one clause which says that the smartphones and tablets applicable for insurance should be brought through Mi.com website. With OnePlus teaming up with B2X service to launch their extended service program, it was time for Xiaomi to introduce any after sales service plan or insurance to improve their after sales record.
The insurance coverage will be covering any accidental damage, liquid damage, collision, falling and other such damages occurring to your smartphone or tablet. There are two insurance plans available which will be applicable to smartphones and tablets which are up to two years old.
Along with the Mi Protect insurance service there is an option to let users block their SIM cards directly using the service from anywhere around the world when you phone is stolen. There is something called SIM misuse insurance which is up to Rs. 3,000 which we will be elaborating once we get the details of it. There is free 1GB of cloud storage available as a part of the service available. There will be free pick up and drop service available for repair of the devices.
To avail the Mi Protect service users should dial 1800 407 333333 or 1800 123330 or 8080 333333. To avail Users who take the Insurance cover will be getting Free assistance to new smartphone users and second servicing of the device within 1 year from activation as part of Mi protect.
Xiaomi had earlier introduced a service called PickMi which was a pickup and drop service launched in collaboration with GadgetWood service providers with an option of one-day service for a price of Rs. 189. With this insurance service being launched this shows that Xiaomi is serious about the post-sale service provided to its customers. Xiaomi has joined with OneAssist to take care of the insurance cover which will be reaching out to customers to assess the damage of the device and follow the process after confirmation.
The Insurance plans introduced by Xiaomi are Rs. 275 which covers Redmi 2 and Redmi 2 Prime and the second plan is for the Mi 4 16GB, Mi 4i 16GB and Mi Pad which costs Rs. 499. The Mi protect cover is applicable for a duration of one year covering smartphones and tablets which are up to two years old. With the depreciation increasing with the age of the gadget – up to 6 months brings 20% depreciation, 6 months to 1 year brings 30% depreciation, 1 year to 2year old device bring 40% depreciation.
