The Worldwide Developers Conference from Apple kicks off on June 13th in San Francisco, and on Monday will be the main keynote everyone would be waiting for, just like every year. WWDC isn’t really about hardware, and it shouldn’t be, as it targets developers, though several things announced there matter a lot to the consumers.
As usual, there is a lot expected at the WWDC 2016 keynote. Here’s what we feel will be in focus, though, Apple won’t stop themselves from surprising the lot with a few extra announcements.
iOS 10
This is the new OS version for the Apple’s handheld devices, the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. It will be one of the major announcements at the event. There is too little known about the upcoming new OS update but we expect to see some developments to the UI with the introduction of the dark theme, which has been long rumored, and changes to the Photos App if Apple is working on a newer hardware for the upcoming iPhones.
OS X 10.12 or MacOS?
This is a big rumor and if it is true, the name would look cool. What’s the first expected feature? Integration of Siri into the computer OS. There might surely be some good additions to the features, but we haven’t seen a lot of information.
WatchOS 3
Apple has been consistently working on the software for its Apple Watch. No wonder we’ve seen the WatchOS 2.0 already with quite a lot of improvements and will be surely looking out for the WatchOS 3 to be announced at the WWDC 2016. Just recently, Apple had the native app feature enabled and wanted developers to upload new apps to be native, so there will be more light thrown on it.
Changes to Apple Music
Apple Music might be seeing some revamp, and if not much is changed in the design, we might get to know about some more partnerships, and also a section that gives personalized suggestions to the user based on the location, time, and the user preferences.
Security in iCloud
There is a lot of talk regarding this, and why not. The recent issue with FBI might make Apple think about this and the company might surely want to have far better security features to the iCloud backup. Even if it makes it too hard to restore data from the backups, Apple might not forget the possibility of encrypting the backups.
Apple Pay on Web
Something else that Apple hasn’t talked about anytime but there are a lot of rumors around it already. It is being said that Apple is planning to bring its Apple Pay service to the web browsers. For now, it is very limited and having itself available for the web will change things quite a bit.
There might be some other things as well, but we won’t guess more because the ones that are mentioned above are some that are rumored in the recent times.
Any hardware announcements? Usually with every event, we already know what’s coming, or at least get a hint of it. This time, it is being told that Apple is going to stick to software, so we might not see any hardware announcements at the WWDC 2016, but then, there might always be a surprise from Apple that we can look forward to.
