Windows 10 latest update brings Android Notifications mirroring to Desktop

The Windows 10 update keeps getting better with the list of features being added increasing, the latest update is the ability to mirror smartphone notifications to your desktop – Windows 10 Mobile and Android running devices. The notifications mirroring feature was announced by Microsoft in its BUILD 2016 conference and revealed that for the feature to work, users have to install Cortana.

The company revealed that later on the feature will be available through the OS it self and not through Cortana. The notification mirroring feature not just lets you view the notifications but also gives you the option to dismiss any unwanted notification without taking out your smartphone. One dismissing the notification on your desktop will close the notifications in the smartphone as well.

The options like replying to messages and permission to archive emails would be a welcome addition, which are not available in the present update. Although Notifications mirroring will be available across all apps, the option to dismiss the notification for the particular app requires the developer to add a code to their app to activate it.

With this new feature Microsoft is trying to make the world’s most used Desktop and Laptop OS to work with the most used Mobile OS. With Microsoft showing a lot of interest towards Android, is it a hint that we will be seeing a Android OS based Lumia device soon?. Microsoft earlier announced that the Windows 10 update will be getting an entire Linus subsystem by teaming up with Ubuntu, with these in roads by pairing up with other OS, Microsoft is surely making the right moves.
