Vivo has launched their latest mid-range smartphone in their Y-series, the Vivo Y81, today, in Vietnam. The new smartphone comes with a notched display and a MediaTek Helio P22 chipset. The Y81 looks like a renamed Y83 that was launched recently in India & China, given the similar specifications as the latter.
The Vivo Y81 features an HD+ IPS LCD screen spread across 6.22 inches. A 2.5D curved glass covers the 19:9 display that has a resolution of 1520×720 pixels. The phone has aforementioned Helio P22 chipset from MediaTek, paired with PowerVR GE8320 GPU, which was designed by Imagination Technologies. It has 3 GB of RAM paired with 32 GB of expandable storage up to 256 GB via a microSD card. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Vivo Funtouch 4.0 OS on top.
As for the cameras, the Y81 comes only with a single 13 MP rear shooter with a f/2.2 aperture. It also has an LED flash on the back. To the front, there’s an 8 MP selfie camera with a similar f/2.2 aperture as the rear camera.
The Y81 packs a 3260 mAh battery. For security, the phone comes with face unlock feature but skips on the fingerprint scanner. The phone has support for 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi, GPS, FM Radio, a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a microUSB port. The phone weighs 146 gms and is 7.7 mm thick.
Pricing and Availability of Vivo Y81
The Vivo Y81 comes only in Black color. The pricing of the phone is set at VND 4,990,000 (USD 220/ INR 14,787) , and is available for purchase in Vietnam. There is no word on global availability of the phone.
