Vivo India has launched the Vivo V5 Plus smartphone in India, a couple of months after its flagship V5 was made official. The highlight of this newly launched smartphone is its dual-lens camera setup, which is now becoming common but here, the V5 Plus has this dual-lens setup on the front, to make the selfies better. The phone is priced at Rs. 27980.
The V5 Plus has a 5.5-inch Full HD display with the 2.5D curved arc glass and slim bezels, and there is Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection given for resistance during falls. Internally, the V5 Plus is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. The phone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow based FunTouch 3.0 OS interface.
The camera combination on the Vivo V5 Plus is one of the important USPs of it. The back of the device has a 16-megapixel camera with the LED flash, while on the front is a combination of two cameras – a 20-megapixel primary and 8-megapixel secondary sensor. Vivo says that the camera combo is co-engineered with Sony and while the first sensor helps in taking a clear shot, the second one helps in taking the information of depth-of-field. Together, they help in getting a bokeh effect in selfies.
It equips the IMX376 sensor from Sony, and there is a lot of enhancement on the software side. Some of the features are as follows.
- Moonlight glow – The V5Plus’s Selfie Moonlight Glow creates the lighting effects giving you the soft radiant complexion.
- Bokeh mode – The depth-of-field effect helps keep the face sharp and good while giving a blurred background in a way that mimics a DSLR camera capture. This takes advantage of the digital optical algorithms to produce the blur.
- Shot Refocus – This allows the user to blur the parts of the picture after the capture, wherever they like it to see blurred. Selecting the area to focus automatically blurs everything else.
The fingerprint sensor of the Vivo V5 Plus that sits on the front unlocks the phone as well as helps open favorite apps with a double tap. Vivo has also included a custom-made AK4376 dedicated Hi-Fi audio chip for a good speaker sound output.
The phone is equipped with a 3055 mAh battery that is non-removable and supports fast charging with its Dual-Charging Engine technology. As for the connectivity, there are most of the standard options and the Dual SIM phone has support for 4G LTE with VoLTE.
Impressive camera features.. only thing lacked is USB type-C!
