Vivo has just announced their latest APEX 2019 smartphone, this is the latest concept smartphone from the brand that it had promised before. The new APEX 2019 doesn’t have any ports or physical buttons similar to the Meizu Zero that was announced yesterday. The APEX 2019 also has a curved glass design unlike the ceramic back found on the Meizu device. The Vivo APEX 2019 has gone one step ahead and removed the 3.5mm audio jack and even the standard USB port. The Standard USB port is now replaced by a magnetic port that connects to the back cover of the smartphone for charging and data transfer. The physical buttons on the device for power and volume are now replaced by a pair of pressure sensitive buttons.
The Vivo APEX 2019 also uses the full-screen sound technology making the entire screen of the smartphone into a speaker or earpiece for calls. The display on the device is a 6.39-inch AMOLED panel and the smartphone is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. The device also now has support for e-SIM and comes with 5G support. The Vivo APEX packs a whopping 12GB of RAM and comes in two variants with either 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. The device also uses a liquid-cooled plate to keep the overall thermals of the device down and retain it usable. The internals of the smartphone is packed carefully using a 3D duplex stacking design and uses MoB packing technology to effectively reduce the space occupied by the internal components.
The Vivo APEX has the full-screen fingerprint technology that has been under work for a while, this technology allows the users to unlock the phone by placing the finger almost anywhere in the display. This is similar to the Half-screen fingerprint sensor that we’ve seen earlier in the first generation Vivo APEX concept. The device also supports two-finger unlocking for better authentication. The rear camera stack is a dual camera setup including a 12MP primary and a 13MP secondary sensor.
The Vivo APEX 2019 will be made available in White, Black and Gray colors, the Vivo APEX 2019 is currently in concept stages and it will likely be introduced as NEX smartphone later this year. We also expect the device to be showcased at the MWC 2019 that is scheduled to happen in Barcelona next month.
