Reliance Jio may continue to provide free services for an additional three months. If speculations are to be believed, the newly founded company shall go on with the free scheme till 31st March 2017 instead of 31st December 2016. We are not quite sure if Reliance will simply prolong the Jio Welcome Offer or launch a new one altogether. The main reason for the extension is the persisting call drop issue.
If you are a Jio user, you must know that it is extremely difficult to connect a voice or video call from the Jio SIM. This is mainly due to the less number of POIs (Point of Interconnections) provided by our country’s top three cellular companies. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recently penalised Airtel, Idea and Vodafone for this grossly uncompetitive approach. These three mobile service providers are deliberately restricting the number of POIs accessible by Jio. As a consequence, customers of Jio are facing severe call connection problems.
The entire matter has severely tarnished the reputation of Reliance Jio. Most of the general public are quite naturally unaware of the technological details. They are blatantly blaming Reliance for the problem. Unfortunately, the company has not yet managed to solve this issue completely. So, it is being presumed that Reliance might just extend the demo phase till it successfully fixes the fault.
Just a couple of days ago, we learnt that the Jio Welcome Offer would be applicable only for the Jio SIMs activated before December 3, 2016. However, the offer will remain valid for any period Reliance wishes; only no new user can be enrolled into the scheme after this date. The company may announce some fresh offer for the users registering after the deadline. This new offer may be the one to come with a validity period till March 2017.
Nevertheless, nothing is officially confirmed by Reliance Jio as of now. So, you should take all these with a pinch of salt.
Great News 😀
