After a long wait, the frequently teased phone from Xiaomi has finally been released. We’ve seen leaked cases of the device on Flipkart and have come across several leaks before. Xiaomi has launched not one but two smartphones at the same time. The Redmi Note 5 Pro was launched alongside the Redmi Note 5 and the Pro variant comes with better specifications and a dual camera setup at a small premium.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset and has the Adreno 506 GPU. The chipset is run by the Kryo 260 CPU. The device comes in three variants and the 3GB RAM variant has 32GB internal storage and you can choose between either 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage or 6GB RAM + 64GB internal storage. This sets the performance bar high with the very capable Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 Chipset and the 6GB RAM option. The display on the device is a beautifully designed 5.99-inch FullHD+ display with a resolution of 2160×1080. The color to contrast ratio on this display is better than what we saw on the Redmi Note 5 and stands at 1500:1 while the brightness still maxes out at 450 nits.
The biggest attraction of the device is the 18:9 aspect ratio display and the dual camera setup on the rear. The rear camera consists of a 12MP camera with a f/2.2 aperture along with a 5MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture. This dual camera setup helps the device offer a portrait mode that focuses on the foreground and blurs out the entire background. The secondary sensor is mainly for the depth detection while the primary sensor takes the images. The front camera on the device is a 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor with LED Selfie-light and can record videos at 1080p. The device also comes with the Beautify 4.0 algorithm that helps you take better overall selfies. There is a Electronic image stabilization for the video recording on the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro runs on the Android Nougat based MIUI 9 and has a 4000mAh battery, this high capacity battery paired with the efficiency of the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset and MIUI 9 can offer up to 14 hours of video playback time on the device. The fingerprint sensor is on the rear of the device and it still has the same Micro USB charging port that supports 5V/2A input.
The device is going to be available starting at a price of Rs 13,999 (for the 4GB + 64GB storage variant) and the 6GB RAM variant will be priced at Rs. 16999. The device will be available from February 22 onwards for the base variant. The first flash sale for the device will at 12:00 noon on February 22nd.
Still micro USB! :((
