Xioami has been teasing the Redmi K20 for a while now, this new smartphone is allegedly a flagship killer, we’ve seen the smartphone in all the advertisements that Xiaomi released immediately after the launch of the OnePlus 7 Pro. The company had promised to offer Snapdragon 855 chipset on the smartphone at a much lower price. The Brand has finally launched the smartphone officially and named it as the Redmi K20 and the Redmi K20 Pro. Going by the price of the smartphone, the Redmi K20 pro stands as a clear winner as there are no other smartphones in the price range that are powered by the Snapdragon 855 chipset.
The Redmi K20 series is lavishly equipped and the brand focussed a lot on the design aspect of the smartphone instead of just talking about the chipset and the performance. This is an upgrade over the affordable flagship Poco F1 that was launched previous year, the Redmi K20 packs much more than just the specifications. The focus of the smartphone is delivering an overall premium experience without neglecting any important flagship aspect.
The Redmi K20 comes with a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with a FullHD= resolution and doesn’t have any notch, the bezels on the device are very thin as well. The display of the K20 and the K20 Pro both support DC dimming and have an in-display fingerprint sensor. The Redmi K20 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 processor and comes with the Adreno 620 GPU, the Redmi K20 Pro gets an upgrade to the Snapdragon 855 chipset making it one of the most powerful smartphones in the market right now. Both the smartphones come in 6GB and 8GB RAM options, the internal storage can be configured to either 64GB or 128GB in the Redmi K20 while the Redmi K20 Pro also gets an additional 256GB variant.
The rear camera on the Redmi K20 and the K20 Pro offer a triple camera setup consisting of a 48MP IMX586 sensor with an f/1.75 aperture, the secondary lens is a 13MP sensor for ultra-wide shots and the third sensor is an 8MP telephoto lens. The front camera of the smartphones is a 20MP sensor in a pop-up mechanism which is becoming more and more familiar these days. Both the devices come with a 4,000mAh battery and have 27W fast charging.
The Redmi K20 comes in two variants, the 6GB RAM variant with 64GB internal storage is expected to be around Rs 20,000 while the 128GB internal storage variant costs 2099 Yuan or Rs 21,000. The Redmi K20 Pro with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset starts at 2499 Yuan or Rs 25,000 for the 6GB RAM variant with 64 GB internal storage. The 128GB variant costs 2599 Yuan or Rs 26,000 and the 8GB RAM variant comes in at 2799 Yuan or Rs 28,000, The top variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage is priced at 2999 Yuan or Rs 30,000. The official date for the Redmi K20 launches in India hasn’t been announced, however, considering the extensive advertisements in India the device is expected to be available in Mid-June.
