Qualcomm has announced two new Octa-core processors to add to its mid-range CPU lineup with the Snapdragon 617 and Snapdragon 430. Both the SoC’s come with LTE support.
The Snapdragon 617 has LTE data with Cat 7 download speeds up to 300 Mbps and upload speeds up to 100 Mbps with the help of integrated X8 LTE modem, it uses 2×20 MHz carrier aggregation in downlink and uplink on LTE FDD and LTE TDD. Support for LTE broadcast, LTE multimode dual SIM and VoLTE with HD voice and SRVCC is present. The Snapdragon 617 chipset supports up to FHD 1080p displays and up to 1080p wireless display.
The Snapdragon 617 chipset sports a Qualcomm Hexagon 546 DSP and Adreno 405 GPU, OpenGL ES 3.1. The camera support is similar to the Snapdragon 618 and 620 chipsets which supports up to 1080p at 60fps, HEVC (H.265) encode and decode. In the connectivity front it has Qualcomm VIVE 2-stream 802.11 n/ac with MU-MIMO, Qualcomm IZat Gen8C location services and Bluetooth 4.1 + BLE. for the RAM and storage support LPDDR3 933MHz, eMMC 5.1 and SD 3.0 (UHS) storage, USB 2.0. It supports Qualcomm Quick charge 3.0 as well.
The Snapdragon 617 is expected to be available for commercial use by manufacturers in devices before the end of 2015.

The Snapdragon 430 on the other hand has a bit slower LTE data with X6 LTE and Cat 4 downlink speeds up to 150Mbps ans support of 2×10 MHz carrier aggregation, Cat 5 uplink speed up to 75Mbps via support for 64-QAM. It supports LTE Broadcast, LTE multimode dual SIM and VoLTE with HD Voice and SRVCC. It supports Adreno 505 GPU, Open GL ES 3.1 and Qualcomm Hexagon 536 DSP.
In terms of display support, FullHD 1080p displays as well as 1080p wireless display support is present. The Dual ISP’s support up to 21MP cameras and Video recording up to 1080p at 60fps, HEVC (H.265) encode and decode. It supports connectivity features like Qualcomm VIVE 2-stream 802.11 n/ac with MU-MIMO, Qualcomm IZat Gen8C location services and Bluetooth 4.1 + BLE. It also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 similar to the Snapdragon 617.
The Snapdragon 430 is expected to be available for use by manufacturers around 2nd Quater of 2016.
