OPPO India has officially unveiled the F5 smartphone in India. After the recent launch in Philippines, the smartphone has, as expected, got official with its 20-megapixel front facing camera and a new aspect ratio on the display. The OPPO F5, just like some other phones launched in the recent past, has got a 6-inch display with the Full Vision display offering the FHD+ resolution.
Thanks to the larger display size, the OPPO F5 seems like a successor to both the F3 and F3 Plus, and the design of the phone seems quite similar to the Vivo V7+, though the fingerprint sensor is made taller. On the front, the 6-inch display has the screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. It isn’t a metal backplate that is given on the back of the phone, but a polycarbonate one.
The OPPO F5 comes powered with the MediaTek MT6763T processor and there are variants, one with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, and another with 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. The device has a MicroSD card slot with the storage expansion possible by up to 256GB, and this is a dedicated card slot that is offered alongside the two SIM card slots. While the earlier phones from OPPO had a fingerprint sensor on the home button itself, this time, the F5 has it on the back, but if the users feel that it is not rightly placed, there is also a face unlock feature to help users unlock the screen with its technology of checking the facial features and recognizing them to match with the one that is stored.
For the selfies, which is considered an important aspect, there is a 20-megapixel camera included with the F/1.8 aperture and Artificial Intelligence is used to make the selfies better. The company mentions that the OPPO F5’s technology uses about 200 positioning spots that “accentuates your facial landmarks and contours to enhance the symmetry between features like your eyes, nose, cheekbones and jawline to create the perfectly refined and natural selfie. Its beauty-iris tool ensures that your eyes will shine brighter in any photo.”
The same camera is capable of capturing bokeh shots even though it is only a single camera unit. The OPPO F5 has a 16-megapixel rear camera with the F/1.8 aperture and an LED flash support. The device runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat based ColorOS interface. A 3200 mAh battery powers the phone.
The OPPO F5 is priced at Rs. 19990 for the 4GB RAM variant and it is going on sale from 9th November, while the 6GB RAM variant is priced at Rs. 24990 and it will be available from 2nd December.
