Opera has announced their latest developers version of the Opera Desktop will be getting Free built-in VPN which offers 256-bit encryption. Opera is offering unlimited data usage with VPN which is quite impressive as most other ways require you to pay for using the feature.
Commenting on the update, Krystian Kolondra, SVP, Opera, said “Everyone deserves to be private online if they want to be. By adding a free, unlimited VPN directly into the browser, no additional download or extensions from an unknown third-party provider are necessary. So, today, our Opera desktop users get a handy way to boost their online privacy, as well as easier access to all their favourite online content no matter where they are.”
With VPN you can use the following features,
- Hide your IP address – You can improve your privacy online as Opera will replace your IP address with a virtual IP address, so it’s harder for sites to track your location and identify your computer.
- Unblocking of firewalls and websites – When you are travelling or are in your office or school, blocking of certain websites is quite frustrating and with VPN feature users can access all content like video-streaming sites which are blocked in most colleges and schools.
- Public Wi-Fi security – Using public WiFi can be one of the most insecure places for your data, users can easily access all your data and personal information. With VPN you can add protection from such illegal access.
How to use built-in VPN on your Opera Browser:
- Launch your Opera browser
- Click on “O” to launch the menu
- Select Settings from the list for Windows and Preferences for Mac users
- From the options click on “Privacy & Security”
- Now click on free VPN to activate it
Opera has initially included only three virtual locations to choose from – USA, Canada and Germany. Other locations will be added shortly is what the company is promising when the stable version of the browser is launched. Download the Opera developer browser here – Download link
