Nokia-branded Android phones confirmed to return in Q1 2017

Nokia’s fans have been eagerly waiting for the company’s return to the smartphones biz since a long time now. Rumors and leaks since the past few months have suggested that the company will come back to the smartphones industry this year, but that didn’t pan out and no signs to happen until the year ends leaving the fans disappointed yet again. But not to worry, Nokia’s return is now officially confirmed.

In a slide presentation at the company’s Capital Markets Day 2016 event, one of the slide states the official confirmation of the Nokia’s brand return to smartphones putting rumors and reports to rest. Over the past few months, we have seen a wide range of Nokia that includes Nokia 5320, Nokia 1490, and Nokia D1C devices being benchmarked and spotted on sites like GeekBench, it is now completely possible that these will see the light for the day in 2017.

Nokia Android Phone Return

The Nokia D1C could be the first Nokia-branded smartphone that is going to be unveiled next year, and the device is tipped to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC coupled with 3GB RAM. It packs a 13-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front camera. It is also worth mentioning that the upcoming Nokia phones will have the company’s branding they will not, however, be produced by Nokia. Back in May, Nokia has granted the HMD Global the exclusive license to create Nokia-branded mobile phones and tablets for the next ten years.

Nokia’s CEO Rajeev Suri will deliver a keynote speech at MWC 2017 in late February, so it is possible that Nokia might make the most anticipated announcement at the event. We are just a few more months away for the big day. Stay tuned to see what Nokia has planned for its fans and users across the globe.
