They are here, the Lenovo-owned Motorola’s Moto G5 and G5 Plus were just launched by the company. Just like last year, the G5 series gets a plus variant with top-end specifications compared to the regular G5. Having two separate options of the same series raises the question of what’s different and to answer the same we are here with detailed specifications, and features comparison tear down. Moto G5 Plus vs. Moto G5 – Display: Though both come with Full HD 1080p panel, the G5 Plus has a slight edge with a bigger screen size at 5.2-inches and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. While the regular G5 packs a 5-inch display with no protection. However, with more pixel density, the G5 might look better on paper, but in reality, there won’t be a huge difference.
Moto G5 vs. G5 Plus – Hardware: The Moto G5 Plus is powered by the most efficient, Snapdragon 625 Octa-Core chipset with 2/3/4GB RAM options beats the Moto G5 that comes equipped with Snapdragon 430 SoC with 2/3GB RAM models. The Snapdragon 625 is known for its most power efficiency and robust performance, while the G5’s Snapdragon 430 is more like a budget Octa-Core chipset.
With stock U.I out of the box, RAM performance should be smooth enough for heavy multitasking.
Moto G5 vs. G5 Plus – Camera: The Moto G5 packs a 12-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX362 sensor, dual-tone LED flash, Dual-Pixel Autofocus, f/1.7 aperture and can record 4K videos. On the other hand, the regular G5 features a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF and can record Full HD 1080p videos.
Confused? Well, on paper, the Moto G5 has a larger megapixel, but it is the G5 Plus that has a better camera with SONY sensor, better optics and is also capable of recording UHD 4K videos. On the other hand, the regular G5 is limited to 1080p.
Again on the front, both have the same 5-megapixel shooter, so they both might capture selfies equally good.
Moto G5 Plus vs. Moto G5 – Battery: The Motorola G5 Plus rocks a 3000mAh removable battery that comes with 15w Turbocharging support. The regular G5 packs 2800mAh battery with 10w Rapid charging support. So there is a difference in battery capacities as well as the fast charge technologies.
Features like the fingerprint sensor, Water-repellent coat are standard on both the G5 Plus and G5 smartphones. Rest of the specifications remain the same on both the G5 and G5 Plus.
