LeEco has finally forayed into the US market with a host of smart devices. Along with its flagship smartphone, the Le Pro3, the company also launched the Le S3. The latter comes with a price tag of just $249 (Rs. 16,600 approx.) which can further be reduced to a mere $149 (Rs. 9,949 approx.). At the San Francisco event, LeEco also introduced its smart bicycle, the “Super Bike”.
The LeEco Le S3, the successor of Le 2, is an upper mid-range smartphone with top-notch specifications. The handset boasts a full metal design made from high-grade aluminium. At the front, there is a 5.5-inch Full HD (1080 x 1920) display. A Gorilla Glass 3 covers the IPS LCD panel. The brand new device runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow deeply customised with LeEco’s eUI (Ecosystem User Interface).
At the core of Le S3 lies the octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 652 chipset. This is the same processor powering its predecessor Le 2. The chip has the highest clock speed of 1.8 GHz and features four Cortex A72 cores along with four Cortex A53 cores. The Adreno 510 GPU handles the graphics rendering. This is complemented by 3 GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 32 GB of onboard memory.
Coming to the camera, the LeEco Le S3 sports a 16 MP primary shooter and an 8 MP front snapper. The main camera supports 4K 2160p video shooting along with slow motion footages. A dual LED flash assists the rear camera during low light conditions. The fingerprint sensor of the smartphone sits at the back right below the primary camera module.
A 3000mAh non-removable Lithium-ion cell juices up the latest smartphone. The battery is fully compliant with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. The Le S3 is a dual SIM device. However, the 4G LTE support is restricted only to the first slot. The handset is compatible with a wide range of 4G frequencies and sports VoLTE (Voice over LTE) as well as Wi-Fi calling facilities. Other connectivity features include Wi-Fi (dual band 2.4 GHz + 5 GHz), Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, etc.
Similar to other LeEco phones, the Le S3 also misses out the 3.5 mm audio jack. Nevertheless, the company ships an additional adapter to facilitate older headphones. The smartphone uses the newest Type-C USB port for audio output, data transfer and charging. In the USA, the handset will be available in three colour variants, which are Gold, Gray, and Rose Gold. Initially, the company will only sell the first two colour options, and the latter will arrive later.
Pricing is the most disrupting feature of the LeEco Le S3. With all these high-end specifications, the smartphone costs just $249 (Rs. 16,600 approx.). If you buy the handset from LeMall – the official marketplace, the company will offer another $100 rebate. This makes the resultant price an unbelievably low $149 (Rs. 9,949 approx.). The Le S3 will first be available for on November 2, 2016, through a flash sale scheduled at 10 am (PDT). To get the $100 discount, you need to register at LeMall before this sale.
