Watt Lab, of Central Research Institute at Huawei Technology Corporation Limited, unveiled their latest technology which is said to help charge batteries 10 times faster. The company at the 56th Battery Symposium in Japan, has unveiled new quick charging lithium-ion batteries which have achieved an impressive charging speed of 10 times faster than that of normal batteries.
With the new charging speed at display, Huawei presented videos of two types of quick charging lithium-ion batteries. The first type was a 600mAh battery which can be charged to 68% in just two minutes and the second one was a 3000mAh battery which had energy density above 620 Wh/L and can be charged to 48% capacity in just five minutes. This would allow the user to get ten hours of phone call on Huawei mobile phones.
Huawei has explained how they could achieve the fast-charging battery technology in their official website – “the company bonded heteroatoms to the molecule of graphite in anode, which could be a catalyst for the capture and transmission of lithium through carbon bonds. Huawei stated that, the heteroatoms increase the charging speed of batteries without decreasing energy density or battery life.”
With this new fast charging technology, Huawei is confident that it will revolutionize not just the smartphone industry but also the Electric cars and all battery charged electronics in the market. This will drastically decrease the time taken to charge your device. There are certain videos shared by Huawei of the fast charging – Two minutes quick charging demo video.
We hope that this technology is seen all the devices and we can save a lot of time which is wasted in charging devices especially power banks which if charged fast can be used productively.
