According to Sino Market Research, Honor, the smartphone e-brand from Huawei was the top smartphone e-brand in China in the year 2017. The research claims that the brand surpassed the industry leader Xiaomi in terms of both, sales volumes and revenue.
Following are the numbers for the two leading brands for the year 2017.
- Sales Volume for Honor: 54.5 million
- Sales Volume for Xiaomi: 50.9 million
- Sales Revenue for Honor: 78.9 billion CNY
- Sales Revenue for Xiaomi: 63.7 billion CNY
At the Honor CES Media Event 2018, Mr. George Zhao, President of Honor, shared Honor’s vision with global media and fans, stating that “As a leading e-brand, Honor aims to become the most loved smartphone brand for both the young and the young at heart. With a unique Internet-powered business model, unrivalled products, and unbeatable value, we are taking our successful business model from China to the global market. Our aim is to become a top-five smartphone brand by 2020.”
In the price range between CNY2500 to CNY4000 (USD 400-650), Honor View 10 that was launched in November 2017 got up to 10% of the sales within a month of its launch. In China’s most recent Singles’ Day sales on November 11, 2017, the Honor 7X was the top overall bestseller in the price range of CNY1,000–CNY1,999 (US$160–US$320). In India, 20,000 Honor 7X units were sold out in the first hour it was on sale.
The company has been working on launching multiple devices in the same price range so as to cater the consumers with different needs. The recently launched Honor 9 Lite is another example of how Honor is aggressively fighting it out to conquer a better position in the Indian market.
Huawei Honor has done a great job in recent time in India too. Honor 9 Lite and Honor view 10 smartphones are selling like hot cakes in India. Honor has captured China e-Market. It can beat Xiaomi in India too.
