Foxconn Technology Group has already started shipping Smartphones for brands such as Xiaomi and InFocus globally, made at their plant situated in the state of Andhra Pradesh, thus giving a boom to the Make in India campaign.
The Foxconn manufacturing plant is inside the Sri City SEZ [Special Economic Zone], which is spread over 7,000 acres. And the company already has plans to increase the capacity of the facility to bring it on par with its other manufacturing plants located around the globe.
Mr. Vincent WH Tong, the chariman of Foxconn’s phone manufacturing division FIH Mobile did not make any comments on the volume of phones produced from the Andhra Pradesh plant, however, stated that the production is currently just on a small scale. Tong also said that the company have been approaching different Phone brands, to get their phones manufactured from the AP plant.
The companies, Xiaomi and InFocus, has not yet made any official public comments on whether they have actually started selling the phones manufactured from the Foxconn facility in India.
Foxconn is also the company that manufactures the iPhone’s and iPad’s for Apple, and has plans to set up a minimum of 10 manufacturing plants in India by 2020, creating over a million job opportunities.
