Facebook is working hard on the calling feature in their messenger app and has now started rolling out the Group calling feature for free. The update has started rolling out for Android and iOS users. Users can connect with their group using the VoIP-based group call. David Marcus, Facebook Messenger chief, said that update is expected to roll out for iOS and Android clients all over the next 24 hours.
With this new feature, you can make a group call with a maximum of 50 users at any given time. To activate Group call “From any group conversations, just tap on the phone icon to initiate a group call. You can then manage individual participants on the next screen,” to join the group call you have to open the group conversation and tap on the audio call button to get in the call.
You can see which member is in the call and you can invite other members to join the call. On receiving a call you can see the group name and here you can either accept the call or decline it. If you want to leave the call, tap on the end call or the red button at the bottom of the screen. You will exit the call and other call participants will be able to hear the exit tone.
This is a great feature added to the call feature in Messenger which is said to have over 900 million monthly users and it will be giving active competition to the other services like Google Hangouts, Skype and Slack which provide group calling option to users. If you are looking to use this feature make sure that you update your Android or iOS Facebook messenger app to the latest update, if you have not yet received the update wait for it to roll out which will be in the next 24 hours.
