Apple has finally launched two new iPhones, the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus. These two come with so many good and advanced features, but the question in the user’s mind would be about the difference between the two. It is a well known fact that the iPhone 7 Plus is larger than the iPhone 7, but that isn’t the only difference because this time, Apple has done a big change with the Plus variant.
Both the phones run on the same chipset, and both run the same OS, i.s. iOS 10, which is the latest iOS version that has been making rounds of public beta. Otherwise, check below to find out the important differences between the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus.
Now, here’s the non-surprising part. As the leaks suggested, it is the camera that stands as a major difference between the two phones.
First difference – the screen size!
Apple maintained the difference here as the iPhone 7 comes with a 4.7-inch display, and the iPhone 7 Plus on the other side comes with a 5.5-inch display. Both have the same display technology and brightness, and it is only the size they differ in.
Second difference – the resolution!
While the iPhone 7 has a 1334 x 750 pixel screen resolution (offering a pixel density of 326 PPI), the iPhone 7 Plus has a 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, giving it a pixel density of 401 PPI. The display is denser on the iPhone 7 Plus.
Third difference – the cameras!
The major difference is here. One lens vs. two lenses on the back of the devices. While the 12MP sensor on the iPhone 7 is also a new one, the iPhone 7 Plus has two lenses, one being a telephoto lens and the other one being a wide-angle lens. The telephoto lens helps in physical zoom of up to 2x, and the wide-angle does what the name suggests.
The wide angle lens on iPhone 7 Plus has F/1.8 aperture while the telephoto lens has F/2.8 aperture. On the other hand, the camera on the iPhone 7 has an F/1.8 aperture.
The zoom possible on the iPhone 7 camera is 5x digital zoom, while the optical zoom on iPhone 7 Plus is up to 2x optical zoom and then it goes up to 10x digital zoom.
Fourth difference – Battery life!
The battery has been a major difference in the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The same continues here, as the iPhone 7 is said to offer up to 14 hours talk time on 3G while the iPhone 7 Plus is said to offer about 21 hours talk time of 3G. An hour more Internet usage is possible on the iPhone 7 Plus, and the standby time also is said to be better.
We don’t know about the battery capacity yet, but given how the stats talk about it, the difference should not be really big.
