Sony confirmed that it would roll out the Google’s latest Android operating system; Android 7.0 Nougat update for Sony Xperia X and Xperia X compact back in August. It rolled out the update to Xperia X performance and Xperia XZ smartphones last month; now the company has started rolling out the update for Xperia X and Xperia X Compact smartphones.

The Android 7.0 Nougat update brings features such as multi-window, better battery life, improved the messaging app, smart home screen, new notification panel and more. Apart from Google’s default features, Sony has added manual shutter speed and ISO controls at the full 23MP resolution. Finally, Sony has included the Stamina mode with three new power saving levels to choose from. The update size is around 1.3GB, and it has started rolling out for users globally.
Android Nougat rollout has not been as active as the previous versions of Android, but it is too early to call because several manufacturers are planning to roll out the updates in the first quarter of 2017, though the official lists shared by them have a very limited number of devices that are going to get the update. In them, it is Sony, Samsung, and Motorola having a good plan, and other brands are yet to give a clear word on what they are planning with the OS update.
