Airtel has launched its 4G LTE services in Kochi adding new towns to the already huge presence of 4G in Kerala. The towns which are receiving 4G LTE services are Manjeri, Tirirangadi & Thalaserry in Kerala. This makes the number of towns to have 4G LTE in Kerala to 50. First 4G network was launched by Airtel in Kochi in August 2015 along with the 296 towns in which Airtel had launched their services across India.
With 4G connectivity, users can access high speed wireless broadband along with uninterrupted HD video streaming, super fast uploading and downloading of movies, music and images. Users can enjoy 4G speeds using smart devices like mobile phones, dongles, 4G hotspots and Wi-Fi dongles.
Commenting on the launch, George Mathen, hub CEO – Kerala & Tamil Nadu, Bharati Airtel said:
“As customers in India show an increasing propensity for consuming data services, we at Airtel are excited to take the lead in introducing the market to the power of blazing 4G speeds. We recently launched “Project Leap”, our national network transformation drive, and look forward to augmenting our 4G presence in Kerala and deliver a compelling network experience for our customers now and in years to come”.
Airtel had earlier launched their transformation and expansion program ‘Program Leap’ which is a Rs. 60,000 crore project set to perceptibly improving network quality and delivering the best customer experience. To give the users a first hand view of the progress being made by Project leap, a special website www.airtel.in/leap has been launched.
Airtel has first launched 4G network way back in April 2012 in Kolkota. Airtel was the first operator to launch 4G service sin Kerala in August which has been expanded to 50 town in just 5 months time. With many other service providers like Reliance Jio, Idea etc entering the 4G market it is going to get competitive for many existing operators like Airtel, Vodafone etc.
