Snapdragon 617 launched in late 2015 is a mid-range chipset with high-end features. It’s almost the same as the Snapdragon 430. The only difference comes in the making of the chipset and the Snapdragon 617 is clocked at 1.5 GHz whereas the Snapdragon 430 is clocked at 1.4 Ghz. The 1.5 GHz octa-core processor is of 8x ARM Cortex A53.
It is the MSM8952 Snapdragon 617 made up with a 28nm fabrication bundled with Adreno 405 GPU. The chip has X8 LTE modem with support for Cat 7 download speeds of up to 300 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 100 Mbps, and 2x20MHz carrier aggregation. It is also capable of supporting stunning photos and image quality reaching up to 21MP.
