With rumors that the Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is working on its first Laptop doing rounds from quite some time, there is some confirmed news that Xiaomi is partnering with Inventec to manufacture its first Laptop. As confirmed by Richard Lee, chairman, Inventec: “I am upbeat about the business outlook for Xiaomi’s notebook computers, as the firm has more than 200 million registered smartphone users. We will start shipping Xiaomi’s notebook computers in the first or second quarter of next year”
There is no news about the OS which the Laptop will be running on, earlier last year there were rumors that Xiaomi is working on a 15-inch notebook computer which will be running on Linux OS. According to Taipei Times report, the laptop or notebook will be launched in the first half of 2016. With Xiaomi we can expect that the laptop or notebook computer will be priced competitively.
The notebook will be shipped in China, there is no news about the other countries where it will be launched or the exact launch date. Earlier this month reports by Bloomberg stated that the Laptop by Xiaomi will be targeting the Apple Macbook Air range, if a similar laptop is produced by Xiaomi it will give some good competition to Apple as the pricing by Xiaomi will be competitive. There was news that the price of the Xiaomi Laptop will be 2999 Yuan which comes with $470, it is unconfirmed.
The specifications are also not confirmed apart from the expected 15-inch display. With the recent launch of Mi 4c which is equipped with a Snapdragon 808 Soc and priced very competitively we can expect the same with the laptop which Xiaomi will be offering. The Chinese manufacturer has launched a huge list of products apart from just Smartphones, the list has power banks, led lights, speakers, Mi Air Purifier, Headphones, TV, etc.
