Lenovo is expanding its popular X1 Carbon laptop into an array of devices like the X1 tablet,, X1 all-in-one PC, Yoga-brand 36-degree hinge X1 laptop along with an X1 monitor all announced at CES 2016. All these devices carry the DNA of the X1 series by being light weight, compact, heavy performers.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Laptop comes with a 14-inch OLED touchscreen display option which has resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. It is powered by an Intel Skylake processor which can be configured up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of Samsung NVMe storage options. It is sleek and compact at just 0.65-inches thick and weighs just 2.6 pounds in weight. It comes with a slightly larger 52Wh battery. the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Laptop will be available from February and starts at $1,299.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga comes with an option of 14-inch QuadHD AMOLED display with touch support. It is also powered by Skylake processor and comes with 16GB of RAM along with 1TB of NVMe storage. the touchscreen display supports an active stylus which makes it easier to use mainly when positioned in the tent style of position. It is also sleek similar to the X1 Carbon at just 0.66-inches and weighs 2.8lbs in weight. It will be available from later this month and is priced starting at $1,499.
The other device in the X1 series is the ThinkPad1 Tablet which is similar in specifications to the X1 Yoga tablet but having a 12-inch display with resolution of 2140 x 1440 pixels and aspect ratio of 3:2. It is powered by a similar Skylake processor and comes with 16GB of RAM along with 1TB of NVMe SSD storage. It is priced at $899 and starts shipping in February. The tablet comes with a kickstand to hold the display up along with a detachable keyboard unit which makes it similar to a laptop
All three of the above supports the optional docking station using WiGig which is a short range, high speed (4.6GB per second) technology which uses 60GHz radios to transmit video, USB 3 and Ethernet data. It sports a DispalyPort, HDMI, USB 3, USB 2, audio and gigabit Ethernet ports. There are three modules which are available for some extra cash, the additional battery and full-size HDMI port is available at £147, the other one adds HM=DMI input and output along with picoprojector which can project a 60-inch image at a distance of 2 meters and costs $295. The third module is a 3D imaging module adding Intel RealSense 3D camera which can take 3D pictures to help later in printing 3D models of the same.
The Thinkvision X1 Monitor sports an impressive 27-inch IPS display having resolution of 3820 x 2160 pixels with almost no bezel. It comes with an added camera or webcam which is movable as it is positioned on a little arm to help rotate and reposition it. It comes wth dual microphone for video calling. It comes with DisplayPort 1.2 along with one of the first to have USB-C type port and HDMI 2.0 input. It can use this Type C input for both video and to drive the webcam, microphone, and speakers, as well as its 4 USB 3 ports.
Along with these devices Lenovo also unveiled the ThinkPad X1 WiGig Dock, the Thinkpad 65W Micro Adapter, it also showcased the Thinkpad X1 in-ear headphones, the one another device was the ThinkPad X1 Wireless Touch Mouse which is priced at $88 and the other two 65W power adapter along with X1 branded earbuds.
