Huawei announced the MateBook X Pro at the MWC 2018, this is the second iteration of the MateBook series and the device comes with a new attractive design and extremely thin bezels. The bezels on the MateBook X Pro are one of the thinnest in the market to the extent that they couldn’t fit in a camera in the display frame. The front camera on the device pops out of a keyboard key when pressed and offers a unique experience.
The display quality on the Huawei MateBook X Pro is a killer and, in a way, leads the competition, the design makes the device looks very beautiful with almost non-existent bezels. The power button on the Huawei MateBook X Pro doubles up as a fingerprint sensor and the Windows software on the device comes with Windows Hello that allows for biometric authentication. As the thin bezels leave no room for a front camera and pertains to the fact that the entire tech community has complained about the awkward placement of the front camera on the Dell XPS Series, the manufacturer has moved the position of the front camera to under a button, this now only provides a unique experience but also serves the functionality as expected.
The Huawei MateBook X Pro comes in various variants ranging from the latest i5 to i7 processors. The RAM varies from 8GB to 16GB while the SSD can be opted for between 256GB to 512GB. The device also comes with a smart cooling technology that varies the control of the fan based on the thermal condition of the components. One of the unique features of the laptop here is the spill-proof keyboard that prevents any damage to the internal components and the keyboard in case of an accidental drop. This laptop offers a backlight for the keyboard that improves visibility in low light and helps you complete your work irrespective of the ambient lighting conditions, this makes it even more important for the spill proof design to be present as there is yet another electric component that has a potential damage scope.
The connectivity options in the device include 2 USB Type-C and a regular USB port, the fingerprint sensor on the device is integrated within the power button. One of the major complaints in the previous generation Huawei MateBook was the battery life which was suboptimal, the company has worked to improve it on the new model and now boldly claims a battery life of up to 14 hours which would be a great improvement if the numbers turn out to be true. The front of the Huawei MateBook X Pro is mostly taken up by the very well designed 13.9-inch display panel with a resolution of 3000 x 2000 that brings the aspect ratio to a fairly uncommon 3:2.
The laptop is extremely lightweight and despite the weight, it still feels very solid and one can use it with utmost confidence. The design quality on the device is planned with extensive importance given to the minor details that make the device what it is. The dual speakers on both the sides of the device promise an optimal listening experience that should be more than adequate for most purposes. Huawei is expected to launch the laptop initially in countries including China, US, Germany, UAE, Spain and Italy.
Will wait for India launch and price, thanks
