HP has announced a new version of the Chromebook 14 laptop, with quite some upgrades, including ones to battery life, screen resolution, and giving users a few color options to choose from.
A very noticeable change from the previous gen. Chromebook, is the inclusion of Intel Celeron processor, i.e. Intel Celeron N2840 chipset, ditching the NVIDIA processor that was a part of it earlier. But, the Chromebook 14 still has 2GB of RAM, which cannot be further expanded.
While the standard variant of Chromebook 14 with 1366 x 768 pixels able to provide a battery life of 9 hours and 15 minutes, HP is offering a 1080p variant of the laptop as well, but the battery life would be significantly lesser. The Chromebooks are not known for great storage options, thus there will be 100GB of free Google Drive space given for two years.
For the connectivity, the Chromebook 14 comes with one USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI and a micro SD card reader. The HP Chromebook 14 supports a HP Sleep and Charge port via a USB 3.0 port for charging devices on the go.
“HP is delivering new premium features that customers want on Chromebooks to create amazing experiences at an affordable price,” said Kevin Frost, vice president and general manager, Consumer Personal Systems, HP. “We are excited to offer the new HP Chromebook 14 to give customers fun and function with a fresh color palette, bright displays and great battery life in thin, stylish and affordable designs.”
The HP Chromebook 14 is expected to be available in the United States, from November 8th 2015, at both the online and offline stores, for $249.99, and the Full HD variant will cost $279.99.
HP is also offering Chromebook 14 G4 aimed at small businesses and education, having enhanced VPN support, Citrix Receiver 1.8 for Chrome OS, 32GB of internal storage. This will be available in Turbo Silver, and the price is set at $279.
